Notes for Milton Taylor Bittick

Milton Taylor Bittick was born April 28, 1848 probably in what was then Osage County, Missouri, since his parents are listed on the 1850 Osage County census [see Heirlooms-John R. & Cyntha Bittick Bible, Births]. Taylor lived with his parents in the Osage-Maries counties area until sometime before 1870 when they moved to Dallas County. The family then moved to Douglas County before 1876. Milton Taylor Bittick married Nancy Elizabeth Sims January 09, 1876 probably in Douglas County. Because the Douglas County Courthouse burned in 1886, no county marriage record is available. However family information indicates they were married at the home of Nancy's widowed mother, Polly (Milburn) Sims. Polly and her children were in Douglas County on the 1870 and 1880 census records, so it seems likely this is correct. Taylor and Nancy lived on a farm on the banks of the North Fork River near Topaz and Mt. Ararat in eastern Douglas County until Taylor's death November 14, 1916. Nancy lived with their youngest son, Simual Stanfield Bittick, and his family on this farm until her death on December 09, 1940. They were both buried in the Bittick Cemetery located across the North Fork Creek near their home.
