North Carolina Troops, 1861-1865, Volume 14, Page 277, for Company A, 58th Regiment:
BIDDIX, FRANCIS A., Private
Resided in Mitchell or McDowell County and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in Mitchell County at age 47, July 19, 1862, for the war. Deserted on January 25, 1863, but was 'brought back' on February 5, 1863. Reported present in May-June, 1863. Wounded in the right forearm (compound fracture) and hand at Chicamauga, Georgia, September 20, 1863. Hospitalized at Atlanta, Georgia. Reported absent wounded through August 31, 1864. No further records. Survived the war.
